Karma's running for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
A marathon is a metaphor for life … it has obstacles, hills, valleys, times when you feel like giving up, and moments of pure joy … (or so I’ve heard).
This year I have an opportunity to do something I’ve never done before — I’m going to run the Chicago Marathon, with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. Running a marathon is a personal goal of mine. I’ve had a tough couple of years and I’m finally ready to make the commitment to train hard and eventually cross that finish line on October 7, 2001. I’m also doing this so I can raise money that will go towards research and patient care for people diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin’s disease. My "Patient Hero" is Brian Felix. Brian has acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), the leading form of childhood leukemia. Brian was first diagnosed with ALL at age four. He’s now five-and-a-half and currently undergoing treatment at Loyola. I know you’re a caring and giving individual and would do what you could to offer someone hope. My fundraising goal is $1,500 and I would like to raise the money by September 15. Brian loves karate, sharks, dinosaurs Pokemon and the Miami Dolphins. He and his parents have told me how much they appreciate that I am running for him. I would love to know that I am running with all of my friends and family in spirit as I cross the finish line, knowing you all helped in some way. So please be as generous as you can! Please click on the "donate" link to find out how to make a donation. If you want to talk to me more about the Chicago Marathon, Team in Training or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, please e-mail me at karma_adamik@hotmail.com or visit http://leukemia-lymphoma.org or http://www.teamintraining.org (see the "links" button to your left). I realize how busy life can be. Since you have all the information you need to make a donation on this website, why not take a few minutes right now to write a check to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society? Your donation is 100% tax deductible. Thank you in advance for your support. The difference it makes may be life-giving. Karma |
